There may be trouble ahead.

There are rumours from the surrounding vale. A shadow has come, a figure of night that rides within the rolling mists of the tooth stones……..

BBHB Book 2 pencils: P1 sneak peek.

Thumbnails all done, so let the pencilling commence!! Oooh er, those BB's seem to have got themselves some time in the old chokey. What will become of our striped siblings?

Dev-con here we come.

Thought I would take a break from travelling down to Exeter early in the morning during the week…... to do exactly the same on the weekend! hehe.
My case of scribbles is all packed and ready for Dev-con. Should be a right old larf!

Larking about!

Yayyyy, Its painting practice time again! A good chance to show the Badger bros larking about rather than facing off with something hairy and tooth-tastic. I had a bit of an issue with the composition on thise one as I wanted Laird to take a back seat to Flint, but not so much that he didnt have any impact. I also had in mind that I will very likely use this as a promo image or cover so needed to leave some space for titles and pop outs along the top and in the right bottom corner. Have finally got it to a point where i am happy to move on, it's a fun pic.

Beast hunting?….Bounty hunting? well one things for sure they are BATTLE BADGERS!

Well the insides are pretty much done, and the cover is coming together. Issue one here we come!

Friday 14 August 2015

Logo a go go!

Hmmm, to bounty hunt or beast battle!!? What they do is bounty hunting, but then the draw of the story is mainly the monsters so would be good to put "beast" in the title. Also should they hunt or battle? It's not like they actively go hunting and killing things, more like they are there to sort out any beasty thats causing trouble! oooh decisions decisions.

The stages of the pages…..

First things first, gotta get that scene out of the old bonce and down onto paper.
Helps to work fast and small (8cm x 11cm) that way you can get a good idea if the comoposition is working well or not.

Now for the fun part, I blow that little scamp up to full size (25cm x 38cm) to use as a guide for the pencils. Everything is in place, just a case of fleshing it all out.

With things starting to take shape it's time to lay out the word balloons. At this stage elements can still be tweaked and twiddled with should there be issues with my intended layout.

Then when it's all scribbled in and shaded out and the bubbles are working the way I hoped, it's time to crack out the pen pot to lay down the law with some lovely blacks.

All done, just a bit of toning…..

…and tiz all done :)

Friday 31 July 2015

Many hours and many pens, brushes and copics and tiz done. Just a few more bits and bobs and book 1 will be ready for print.

I wouldn't let it lie!

Time for a bit of a switcherooo on the bottom left panel for page 11. As much as I like the image it just wasn't flowing properly with the direction and movement of the story. The angle of the guards looks pretty cool, but the image as a whole isn't really a strong enough for an establishing/intro shot of the ol' Dragon. So back on the board it went…...

….and after a couple of hours of scribbling, a bit of backdrop to set the scene and pulling the shot back a bit to include the badgers we have something that is a bit more successful.

Friday 26 June 2015

Yayyyy, everybody loves free comics!
A friend of mine pointed me towards a cool website called, where people can upload there self published comics for all to see. It all looks pretty nifty so thought I would stick up some of my books.
Kaiju: Fire and Grimstone and "The Wyrm and the Well" will be going up weekly while I work on the Ol Badger boys.

More colouring practice, more beastly troubles for them Badgers Bros!

Friday 1 May 2015

Taking shape….

Pencils almost done.

Friday 27 March 2015

Troll troubles!

Back in the saddle again after a little break (an awesome long weekend in Amsterdam with chums to be precise), so when friday rolled around again I knew it was time to wiggle the old Wacom a bit and get the Boys off on another adventure!
Thought I would try a warmer colour pallette this time, something earthy rather than water based. Not 100% satisfied with the composition, it's got a good bit of "oomph" but I wonder if Flint needs to come in a bit to make him nearer to the target. Anyway its another step towards where I want to be.

Saturday 21 March 2015

Page in prog.

Its all loosey goosey but everything is pretty much in place, time to get stuck in!

Friday 27 February 2015

Can badgers swim?

It's been a few weeks since i posted so thought twas time to get out the crayons and get scribbling on a badger battle. This one took me a little while and went through a few changes along the way, but I'm kinda happy with the finished result.
